Link Baiting – Here’s A Few Ideas For You
I’ve run this subject to the ground by now, but there is a reason for it. It’s important. We all know the value of links and why there are so important to getting direct traffic or search engine traffic. Well, in this post I want talk just a little bit about link baiting.
Link baiting is exactly as it sounds. You want to bait another website into linking to your site. The best way to do it is simply with the content that’s on your website or blog. Let’s take a look at some of the ways you can link bait.
Visit Forums
You go on a forum that is related to your niche. You tell them that you have a new site and you are not sure about it. You want to find out what’s wrong with it and what are some of the things you should improve on. It’s a great way to get a link on a forum, and possibly get a link from any other webmaster that may be on that forum thread. Whatever you do, don’t’ make that your first post. That’s going to look transparent. You’ll be kicked off the forum. Build up a few posts before you do that.
Blog about a specific blog
A real obvious way to link bait is to simply write about a blog that you want to get a link from. Blog owners are people just like anybody else. They love to have their ego stroked just like anybody else. If youcompliment their blog, there is a good possibility they will link to what you wrote about. Simple, but it makes sense.
Interview Other Blog Owners
Again, we are talking about stroking egos here. A interview with blog owner gives you instant content for your site, and most likely that blog owner will link to your site with your interview. Why wouldn’t they? They get a link from your site, and they also come off as very important because you are interviewing them.
A strong opinion on a controversial subject
You are going to have to have some guts for this one. But depending on your niche, you can take a stand on a controversial issue, and if you present in an interesting manner, and provides facts to back up your stance, you are going to have people linking to you.
